What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that uses clear, plastic, and comfortable aligners to shift your teeth into a healthier position. You’ll receive a series of aligners, crafted using 3D imaging, which you wear for one to two weeks at a time, 22 hours or more per day. Each Invisalign tray is custom-made to fit your teeth, from the beginning of your treatment until you reach your final result.

Is Invisalign Right For Me?

Typically, Invisalign works best for mild to moderate alignment issues, but our orthodontist can determine whether the treatment will fit your needs and lifestyle during an examination. If you are showing signs of a severe orthodontic problem, we may recommend a more efficient solution.

What Does Invisalign Treat?

Invisalign treats mild to moderate alignment concerns, such as crowding, protrusions, and spaces in between teeth. Invisalign has also been shown to be effective when worn with overbites, underbites, and other mild forms of malocclusion.

What Are The Benefits Of Invisalign?

Most patients desire Invisalign due to its cosmetic appeal. Because the aligners are made of clear plastic, they are virtually invisible when worn. Additionally, you can eat any food while using Invisalign since you are required to remove the aligners every time you eat, brush or floss.

How Is Invisalign Different Than Other Orthodontic Treatments?

When comparing Invisalign to traditional braces, Invisalign is a more flexible orthodontic treatment. Whereas braces are bonded to the teeth for a specified amount of time, Invisalign aligners are removable.

How Does Invisalign Treatment Work?

Your orthodontist will determine whether Invisalign is right for you during a free consultation. Once x-rays are taken, our team will take digital scans of your teeth and determine the most efficient way to improve their alignment. The scans are sent to an Invisalign laboratory along with directions from your orthodontist, and the lab will fabricate a series of aligners just for you. Afterward, they are sent back to our orthodontist, who will give you the first several sets of aligners to start the process.

If you are asking yourself, “Does Invisalign really work?” the answer is yes!

How Often Do I Have To Come In For Appointments While Wearing Invisalign?

As with any orthodontic treatment, you will come into our office for a check-up periodically so we can see how your teeth are progressing with Invisalign and make any adjustments as needed. We schedule these appointments so they work with your busy schedule.

How Long Do I Have To Wear Invisalign During The Day?

We recommend that you wear your Invisalign trays for a minimum of 22 hours per day. You can remove the aligners to eat meals and brush or floss your teeth, but they should be put back in shortly afterward.

How Do I Clean My Aligners?

Cleaning your Invisalign trays is simple and can be completed at the same time as your everyday oral hygiene practice. When you are finished cleaning your teeth, you should also brush your Invisalign aligners and rinse them under lukewarm water. Many of our patients will pick up a second inexpensive toothbrush for cleaning the aligners at night. Please don’t use toothpaste to clean the aligners. Additionally, we recommend that you brush your teeth after every meal to ensure no food debris becomes trapped in your aligners.
